仕事帰りにふらっと向かう、車で20分の小場所。 ここは自分にとって“非日常”を感じられる特別な場所だ。 今日の潮はいい。風もある予報。 しかも釣り座に対してほぼ向かい風。 こういう日はベイトが寄るはず——そう期待してポイントへ向かった。

しかし、釣り場につくと気配なし。 常夜灯に照らされた海面でメバルがライズしていることを期待したが、それもない。 まずはジグヘッド単体でワームを入れていく。 表層、カウント5、10、15と刻んで探るが、まったく反応がない。

「これはプラグのシチュエーションかもしれん」

そう思い、プラグに変更。 潮上へキャストし、ゆっくり風と潮にまかせて流す。 ラインスラックだけを丁寧に回収していく。

すると—— 突如、強烈なバイトが襲いかかる。 暗闇にドラグ音が響き、ロッドが一気に絞り込まれる。

上がってきたのは 23cmほどのメバル。 体高があり、引きも強く、まさに“トップゲームの主役”という魚だった。

しばらくすると、もう一匹追加。 プラグならではの「突然の水面爆発」がたまらなく楽しい。 このシチュエーションは、プラグが圧倒的に強い。

仕事帰りの短時間釣行でも、 こうして“非日常”を感じられる瞬間があるからやめられない。

After work, I headed to a small spot just 20 minutes away — my personal “escape from everyday life.” The tide looked good, and the forecast called for wind, almost straight into my fishing position. Perfect conditions for bait to gather.

But when I arrived, there were no signs of life. No rises under the streetlight, no surface activity. I started with a jighead and soft lure, counting down through the layers, but nothing reacted.

So I switched to a plug. Casting up‑tide and letting the lure drift naturally with the wind and current, I slowly picked up the slack.

Suddenly, a violent strike tore through the darkness. The drag screamed, and a beautiful 23 cm mebaru surfaced. A second fish followed soon after.
